Wine Access magazine is proud to deliver the only international wine competition aimed directly at wine consumers across Canada.

The Wine Access International Value Wine Awards (IVWA), based in Calgary, Alberta, focuses on any wine, domestic or imported, that retails somewhere in Canada for $25 CDN or less per bottle. All entries are assessed by the members of the Wine Access Tasting Panel, together with a select group of Canadian wine commentators who report on wine regularly to the public.

Any Agent, Winery or party who represents any wine that qualifies for entry under the guidelines listed below.

RULES FOR ENTRY

Number of Bottles Per Entry*

3 x 750ml or 6 x 375ml bottles (or similar volume) of each wine must be submitted per entry. This is to allow for wines going through to multiple rounds of tasting and for faulty bottles. Wineries are welcome to submit 4 bottles to avoid risk of a wine being rejected due to flaws with only 3 bottles submitted at their discretion.
Cost to Enter
$100 CDN plus 5 per cent tax (GST) per entry.
Confirm that the wines you want to submit qualify for entry based on the following guidelines

To qualify for the Wine Access International Value Wine Awards all wines submitted must:

Be available in a minimum quantity of 300 cases produced for commercial availability.
Be produced 100 per cent from grapes grown in the country in which the wine is produced and bottled.
Retail for $25 CDN or less per 750mL bottle somewhere in Canada.
The wine may cost more than $25 in some provinces but if it is less than $25 somewhere in Canada, it is eligible for entry.
PLEASE NOTE: Shelf prices in Manitoba do not include 7 per cent PST and 5 per cent GST, so all retail prices quoted on entry must be equal to the final cash register price all taxes included.
Be available for sale somewhere in Canada to the public during the 2010 calendar year, or scheduled for release by January 31, 2011 for a price (excluding federal and provincial sales tax) of $25 CDN or less per 750 mL bottle.
Wines commonly produced in smaller format bottles are eligible, but care should be taken to ensure that the retail price per 750mL volume is less than $25 CDN. For example, a 375ml bottle would have a maximum retail price of $12.50 CDN.
Ice wines, late harvest wines and other wine styles frequently available in smaller format bottles, such as 200mL or 375mL, are eligible for the 2010 IVWA. Again, care should be taken to ensure the retail price per 750mL does not exceed $25 CDN.
Wines sold other than in government and private stores are eligible. Speculative and special listings in B.C., Consignment in Ontario, etc. can be included.

PLEASE NOTE: Wine prices for submitted wine that cannot be confirmed as retailing within Canada for $25 CDN or less will be disqualified from competition. Disqualified wines will not be refunded their entry fee.

NO TANK OR BARREL SAMPLES ARE PERMITTED.
