by Anthony Gismondi with members of the IVWA judging panel

Who could have dreamed that searching for the best "inexpensive" wines in Canada would actually become chic? Post-Bernie Madoff, it is clear that whether you work on Bay Street or Wall Street or at the Bay or Wal-Mart, cheap is in. In this case, inexpensive is wine sold in Canada for $25 or less.

The Wine Access International Value Wine Awards award the best inexpensive wines available for retail purchase anywhere in Canada.

You can see a pdf of the full coverage in our latest issue here.

Erratum:
The Freixenet N/V Cordon Rosado ($13-$16) scored 87 points in the 2009 International Value Wine Awards and should have been included among the Judges’ Choice for Sparkling Wine on page 58 of the October/November 2009 issue of this magazine. We apologize for the omission.
