Value Wine Awards

We want to thank all of the entrants and judges for another successful competition in 2010. Full results will be released in the October/November 2010 issue of Wine Access magazine.

The Wine Access International Value Wine Awards (IVWA) is Canada's premiere value wine competition.

The best wines under $25 available in Canada.

Registration information for the 2010 competition

Held annually in Calgary, Alberta, the Wine Access International Value Wine Awards seeks to find the best value wines available to Canadians retailing for $25 or less CDN retail anywhere in the Canadian market. This price point accounts for 97 per cent of wine purchases by volume in Canada, a fact which underscores both the need and significance of an international calibre wine competition dedicated to this category of wine.

The Wine Access IVWA judges around 1,200 wines from more than a dozen countries, in nearly 30 categories. Some of Canada's leading wine writers, journalists, sommeliers, buyers and industry professionals come together from across Canada to comprise the Wine Access IVWA National Tasting Panel. Wines are sorted into flights by the Competition Director and then tasted blind by various panels led by a senior Wine Access Tasting Panel member.

Full results from each IVWA are published in that year's October/November issue of Wine Access magazine. In addition, partial results are featured in the November issue of WestJet airlines' in-flight magazine, up! which reaches up to 1.4 million readers each month.

Due to provincial liquor regulations in the Province of Alberta, RedPoint Media Group Inc., Wine Access, and/or the International Value Wine Awards cannot import entries into the province of Alberta from outside the province. Importing agencies outside of Alberta must arrange importing independently. It is highly preferable if importers or agents can arrange samples drawn from Alberta stock. In cases where this is not possible, arranging delivery through an agent liscensed in the Province of Alberta. This can significantly reduce shipping delays or errors.  Questions about shipping can be directed to Tom Firth tfirth@wineaccess.ca
