You will not be disappointed and you will tear through the pages of this book. So all in all, Two Can Keep a Secret is definitely a 2019 release you should check out. It's a crime that affected many in Echo Ridge, as the murder was never solved, yet many town residents have their suspicions about who is guilty, and they take it out on anyone connected to him. Which I have never, ever used professionally. Suitable for grades 8 and up there is some language, and some kissing; there is no sex and the violence is not graphic. They had all hoped it was in the past, but now there are threatening messages around town with the Homecoming princesses as the new targets.
Which is why in Echo Ridge, it's safest to keep your secrets to yourself. Ellery knows all about secrets. Two Can Keep A Secret was full of plot twists and genuinely kept me guessing until the very end. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. But his return is just a coincidence. Have you read her other book One of Us is Lying? Partly because of how trapped she felt, but also because of the memories of her sister who was taken and never found. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. When Lacey Kilduff was found dead, her boyfriend Declan was the main suspect, even though nothing ever came of it. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. I actually think it might be on my iPad. The funny thing is, McManus really did keep me guessing here, and while I wasn't shocked with how things resolved themselves, I wasn't disappointed either.
It could have been in the horribly named Murder Land. The agent mentor will select the best of the five manuscripts in the workshop and offer additional feedback to the author, and perhaps to additional participants. Certainly no sophomore slump with Two Can Keep a Secret! Like I said, I highly recommend this read. Despite this, there were still a lot of good things about Two Can Keep a Secret—mainly how I was pretty invested in the main characters. As you looked at each one, you were wondering where were we going with it all and what a ride! I absolutely loved this story of a town with dark secrets that are seemingly resurfacing again. The story is tightly packed, the intrigue is there, the characters are as nuanced as you want them to be in a thriller, and you are still guessing up until the end. And the longer she's in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something.
I finished reading this book because I only had a few chapters left to read and I wanted to finish what I started. The thing is, secrets are dangerous--and most people aren't good at keeping them. His older brother was the prime suspect and left Echo Ridge in disgrace. Books are my entertainment, education, and exposure to the myriad forms of human experience. Ellery's never been there, but she's heard all about it.
